Managing the Gray Interviews Podzinger CEO Alex Laats
For Episode #20 of Managing the Gray I had the pleasure of sitting down with Alex Laats, CEO of Podzinger.
If you are not familiar with this company, you need to be plain and simple. They are changing the world of search for video and audio and are a company to keep an eye on AND you should be using as part of your social media strategy.
We’ve tried to do this interview for a while and our schedules never clicked until today and I’m excited that we could make it happen.
We talked about some other things that are going on with the company off the record and all I’m going to say is that there are some neat and powerful things on the horizon. It got me excited!

Good to hear more about PZ. They were a client when I was at DIG. Interesting technology that focuses on a real need, the abilty to search all of the audio content that would otherwise be dark matter on the web. I hope they doing something with practical visual search next.
C.C.,
This was a good interview with interesting insights.
I wanted to share a point concerning one of your comments during the show.
You said something to the effect that the only reason to have transcripts was as search engine fodder and once they caught up, we’d no longer need transcripts. I actually think there will still be a place for transcripts.
Some people might like to have the text version of the content instead of or in addition to the audio/video content. First, there’s the argument that is always made about blogs vs. podcasts: sometimes people just like to skim read. Maybe they need to catch up on your show quickly. Maybe that is just how they prefer to consume the info.
Second, some people might like the option to print, highlight and mark up the content. If that is what they want, then they should have it. Isn’t the new media paradigm all about empowering the consumer?
Granted, the scope of your conversation with Alex was search, but I thought this was a point worth making.
Keep up the great content!

A very good point and actually transcripts are important too for people who can not listen to the podcasts. We sometimes forget that there are hearing impaired people who would still like the content and transcripts help bridge this gap.
Thanks for this episode, I listened a while ago and came back to specifically enroll with PodZinger.
