New Marketing For Musicians
November 27th 2006
Today is a special episode focused on how musicians can leverage new marketing technologies and techniques to grow their fan base and get their music heard by a larger audience. I plan on doing many of these very focused shows so if you have ideas please let me know. The comment line is always open at 206-309-4729.
Mentioned on the show:
- Online Music Marketing with Jay Moonah
- PodShow’s Podsafe Music Network
- MySpace Musician Accounts
- Sell your music on CD Baby
- IODA
- Rumblefish (I totally forgot to mention this on the show, but they are a damn cool company from a lot of different angles.)
- Virtual U-Turn Cafe
- Audio Gumshoe Podcast

Awesome stuff C.C.! Yes, these are indeed many of the same topics I’ve covered on OMM but having folks other than me make the point all the time certainly doesn’t hurt. And yes I indeed TOTALLY appreciate the love.
One other growing key area for music marketing is video, particularly with the popularity of YouTube. I talked about this on episode 11 of my show. We haven’t done much on the video front with my bands yet, but it’s definitely a huge new frontier for breaking bands.
Anyway, great show as always, speak to you soon bro,
- J.
I added this to my del.icio.us!
Great Episode!!! I think you’re right that this is just good advice for the basics of web presence for any project. Even an education podcast.

I am a super recent convert to the Church of Chapman and his Managing the Gray podcast. If you are a musician, promote a musician, or just love one, you need to listen to CC Chapman’s Managing the Gray podcast,…

Yes every band needs a domain name. instead of trying to sell mp3s or merchandise. Think about selling access to your band via a paid membership site. You create and control the community and get all the revenues. You can use wordpress, paypal and autoresponder to get started.
