The Intellagirl Challenge
My friend Sarah “Intellagirl” Robbins called me out in a recent blog post.
She wanted to know one tangible way to break out of the fishbowl and get more people into new media. Rather then thinking about it long and hard I hit record and gave the first thing to come to mind. I’d love to hear how else you are are getting new people to try out things in this space. I’m sure we all have stories and sharing them can only help others so please do share.
Call in with your ideas to 206-309-4729 or leave them as a comment on this post. I can’t wait to hear what is on your mind.

Hey C.C.
Great show as always!
Here’s a link to my Flickr tutorial for new people, or folks who just don’t understand what to do with a Flickr invitation. I hope this helps your listeners.

CC, Really excellent show. I think some of your strongest shows are when you go more in the stream of conscience direction versus a more planned out approach.
Definitely gave me some thoughts about revisiting marketing through Flickr for my photography business. I had really wrote it off to a great extent that most people on Flickr aren’t looking for a photographer - they are there because they take pictures. I’ll definitely be reconsidering.
Good episode, CC, but when will new media insiders ever be happy with adoption?
“New media” infers that it is…well…new. Most mainstream technology is not as cutting edge as what industry insiders are talking about.
There are 6 million Xbox Live subscribers, 500,000 YouTube accounts, 65 million Nintendo DS handhelds, 1,300 billion Internet users, and over 2 billion mobile phone subscribers.
There is definitely an increasing fish bowl effect in new media. It’s either because of a marketing or product shortfall.
Hey C.C. - I was brought over to this site from an interview you did at SXSW with Cali Lewis of GeekBrief. I’m with you on the idea of finding ways to bring people to new media. I’ve been trying with some of my family members and it’s been slow going, but I think I’ve broken ground. My Step-Dad bought an iPhone the other day and was watching Youtube videos on it. Score one for new media.
