Life Changing Box

I got a note from a friend pointing me to LifeChangingBox.com . No details. No hints. Just the URL to go and check it out. Since I knew this person I figured why not.

I spent some time putting words into it and seeing what it did. I don’t want to spoil the surprise but go ahead and give it a try. When you give it a word that the box likes it reacts positively to it. I’m still haven’t figured out if there are any key words that will make it go really nuts or not and what the end goal of the site is, but it is a fun for a nice break. One warning though is that the site loads with sounds so don’t have your speakers to loud. You can turn it off in the upper right hand corner.

What I have determined is that it is tied to a Facebook application as well where you can win prizes by holding the box. I had the box for a while, but didn’t win anything. As you can see below, you can go in every day and “touch” boxes that other people are holding in the hopes that when the box changes holders you’ll get it next. Sort of like an inverted, twisted game of duck duck goose if you ask me.

Word on the street is that this is tied to a television company, but I’m not getting any real answers from anyone I ask so I’m not sure. I did see a TV in one of the promo shots as a prize so who knows.

If you try it out and find anything cool that makes the box do things let me know. If you win a prize I REALLY want to know because I am curious to see what sorts of things it gives out.

Not sure this is “life changing” but it is certainly fun to play with.

Have you tried the word “Air” yet? That one reacts oddly. I think.

    Star and Sun are fun.

I think you’re onto something with the television company…type in television or channel.

The word “change” reacts the same way “air” does.

The domain was registered by loweworldwide.com and the IP space hosting it is owned by NTT America, Inc.

“earth” and “water” also work. “fire” and “spam” do not

sorry to use comments here as a place to store what works and what does not, but “environment” and “green” also work.

I’m going to try “Al Gore” next to see if he’s ok, or living on the streets somewhere…. ;)

you should try baseball terms. it does something else. And, there are other words that do other things. CC let us know if you find out anything else about this website. Its good marketing and very addicting.

Other good ones: Recycle, Power and future, ecology, planet, earth, solar

Best response so far has been to ‘Lowe’. Cheeky, very cheeky.

Here’s a new one. Try “card” for a new reaction…

  13. June 18th, 2008 | 3:19 am

“Sharp” “Aquos” is a new “TV” coming out soon, perhaps it runs off “solar” or is “environment”ally friendly?

It certainly is a fun and entertaining campaign, but at the same time if you can’t figure out who it is then I question if it is totally the right campaign.

It is certainly a fun experiment and I’m waiting to see someone win something on Facebook because that is when I think it gets more interesting.

It does look like this is tied to Sharp based on the comment here and the reaction of the box. I’m still not sure what is with all the environmental tie ins. As someone that is very interested in that space I wish the connection was clearer. I’d bet there is a second phase for the box with more details. At least I hope there is.

[…] CC Chapman blogged about the Life Changing Box, my mysterious client’s client, and I love being able to tease CC about it! And, like I always say, loose lips sink ships! (I know something you don’t know! Ha ha!) […]

I got positive results from “television,” “HD,” “show,” and “comedy.” You might also want to try “Lowe”

  17. June 18th, 2008 | 7:18 pm

Well looks like we have our first winner. I was holding Box 7 up until a few hours ago but the new holder just won a 32inch HD TV! So close!

That word list has some serious profanity, btw. Not for the feint of heart.

Given the limited time span of this app/contest, it’s going to end relatively soon. However when you see the great prizes already won .. and I mean they are great… there are more still to be given away and it has me playing everyday!! (and telling others too)
