It's in my DNA. I can't stop talking about it. I keep talking and demonstrating new media to my bosses in my 70,000 plus corp. Slowly, but surely, I'm injecting new media concepts into the DNA of my corp.

ROI - Tricky part here. People measure things that are easy to measure. How do you measure trust? Some softer side things are important, but hard to measure. So, some may say the ROI isn't there, but what are they measuring?

Thanks for your motiviation.

CC - Great MTG as usual. It's funny because yesterday I was contacted by my local newspaper (The Buffalo News) to do an interview with a reporter on social media and how I was using it. The interview is this afternoon and I have been thinking about it quite a bit.
Buffalo is an old steel workers town and many of the people that live here still have the old industry mentality. You'll hear people on the streets bragging about how they never use the internet. It's too bad really because the old industry has been pretty well dead since the late 70's and many of our younger population moves away. The people here that do embrace social media are the college kids, and many of the college faculty.
So I've been wondering.... Who reading this paper really cares about social media? The paper to me has an old hat culture and I wonder if they are trying to embrace a little too much a little to late. Food for thought I guess. So social media and the web doesn't only bump up against company culture, but it also bumps up against regional cultures. I tell you what though, it wont affect my interview. If I can reach even a few, it will be worth it.
Thanks again.

Great commentary, CC. The question for companies thinking about social media in 2009 should perhaps be, "Are you willing to shift your mindset, or only your tactics?"

BTW - when Gary was talking about social media ROI in Arizona, didn't he say something like, "What's the ROI of putting on your pants?" (Maybe I imagined it, but either way it sounds like something he would say....!)

I might see you tonight, BTW. ; )
