I am not sure, but I don’t think this has come down to my podcatcher yet.

    C.C.,
I listened to this podcast and heard you speak about folks needing to provide “case studies”. You said people need to “share the data”, provide “real-world data” and “stop focusing on your wallet”. However, I have listened to many of your podcasts and I have yet to hear you do any of these things yourself. I have not heard one real-life case study from your work at “The Advance Guard”. Check the categories on this blog, there is no category for “case study”.

The fact is that the net effect of all of your “teaching/speaking/blogging/podcasting” is the promotion and branding of yourself and therefore your business. I know that’s not your primary goal – but that is the reality of your outreach.

I challenge you to provide real numbers and details for just one actual job or client. Or how about real numbers on how much the Advance Guard charged a client like HBO for a job. Or how about this… why don’t you podcast/blog your absolute best nugget of information that you only reserve to tell you Advance Guard clients… until you do that you’re not really “sharing”, you are just “promoting”.

Morgan, the problem is that most clients won’t let that data be shared. That is certainly an issue in my case and is the reason most companies can’t share the case studies that I so badly crave.

We have written up and shared as much information as we can publicly on each case study on our website – http://www.theadvanceguard.com – I wish we could share more, but we are not allowed to.

The problem is that most brands don’t want this information shared for a variety of reasons. I do believe that in the long run, the more that was shared, the more that would be gained, but that is a hard pill to swallow by most brands.

I WISH I could share more. I know many other agency people who wish they could, but their hands are tied by the companies who pay them. It’s an ugly double edged sword.
