Making Time

listen to managing the gray

I get asked all the time how I find the time to do all the things I do and the answer is that I MAKE the time. You have to figure out what is the priority thing you want to get done. What can I do now that has to be done. Always be looking for ways to get more then one thing done at once. Finally never forget to make time for yourself. We too often forget that above all else.

So today on Managing the Gray I’ll remind you that it is up to YOU to make the time for what needs to get done and what you want to accomplish.

[...] Managing the Gray #96 is all about time and how since you are not going to find the time for everything in your life, you must make the time if you want it. Subscribing to Managing the Gray has been found to make your mornings a little easier (or so I’m told). [...]

Thanks for the shout out C.C.

I agree with you, I think part of my challenge is finding the time (err, making the time ;) with my kids both being so young. They are both distracting and irresistible.

I think if I planned to go to bed earlier and wake up earlier (than the kids), I’d be in better shape to sit down with a book and read.

    So, no more excuses, eh?

    Cheers!

Great podcast. The washing dishes example was perfect – I have lately been trying to make the time for dishes and other things as well.

As a future topic I would be interested in how you balance your podcasts with your work at Campfire. It doesn’t sounds like podcasting is exactly part of your job description and the question is how to balance being an employee with other activities. It sounds like you work from home often and I’m not sure if that makes it easier or harder. I know that even though I have a supportive manager I feel guilty if I start working on a personal blog post before work and then notice it’s 9:05 and I haven’t started my “real” job!

Likewise, C.C., thanks for the shout out. I remember us having the same discussion of making time while you were in town. And you’re right, the key is “making the time,” not “finding the time.” The time your given is all the time you get, what you do with it is up to you. Spend it wisely.

    Have a great one!

I’m recharging my batteries as you speak!

Actually lost my day-gig on Friday, boo hoo. It’s time to turn the page after 5 years of hustling down the road most traveled, (all puns intended). Work was so hectic and stressful the past few weeks, I feel like they did me a great favor in letting me go. Time to get creative again and stop being such a robot!

Thank you CC, I have been procrastinating about starting a blog, protesting too much else to do, but today I put the studying on hold (and the housework to be honest) and just got on with it.
